As far away from the beginning as from the end, the middle of a Cozy Mystery is gut check time for its author.
The eye-popping, attention-grabbing opening has faded into a pleasant buzz, while the fat lady singing the ending is still warming her pipes well offstage.
It’s up to the author to carry the reader through this between time.
This is hard work, folks.
Prepare yourself for it.
I’ve gone into it blind with The Shallcross Burden and am freaking out just a wee-bit.
Bottom line (and as always): Don’t be me.
Until tomorrow…
